ABOUT
PROJECT TIMELINE

The "Coffeebike-Project' was a part of the homework for TU-Berlins' course "Grundlagen der industriellen Informationstechnik" ("Principles of Industrial Information Technology") The main idea of the the project was to find a creative solution for a mobile coffee selling vehicle. Therefore a solution was sought, which is moved solely by human power. So for this reason it should be a type of bicycle that has enough space for all the coffee-production and coffee-selling needed facilities. The rest, so anything that affects appearance of the cofeebike, was left to the students.

Notes to the construction and mechanical design

First it should be mentioned that the overall concept is inspired by the construction of a "chopper". It motivated from the idea to design a personalized alternative to the commonly known structure of such "mobile coffee selling bikes". Fundamentally there is the overall structure of a mobile chassis and a module structure including ultimately the necessary measures to prepare coffee and to sell items such as the coffee maker, coffee grinder, storage drawers, bins, fold-out tables or sun and rain protection. This also ensures conducts an alternative use of the chassis, so that the module structure can be replaced by another gastronomic usage. The chassis hosts for this reason for gastronomic purposes necessary facilities. These include a large water storage tank, which can be filled by a supply valve, an air pressure vessel, for acting upon the water storage tank with compressed air to pre-supply of water, and means for the supply of electricity more necessary. These will be delivered by two car batteries which supply a so-called inverter, which supplies a mains voltage of 230 volts AC. A battery charger allows recharging of the car batteries. Also for this purpose are provided below the supply valve means to connect a charge cable and to fill the compressed air reservoir via a valve drive with compressed air. The water pressure is kept constant via a pressure reducer on the compressed air tank. The chassis is driven by the rear axle. For this purpose, a holder has been slid onto the axle, which is held by means of a bolt in position. At this mount the sprocket is flanged. In addition, the bolt shall forward the transmission of power to the axle and therefore flanged on, have a similar structure, the rear wheels. The brake discs are the same mounting principle operate. This structure is due primarily to the storage of the axis. It is implemented through so-called Plummer, through this, the axis is pushed and fixed over a grub screw axially to the rear axle. In the case of coffee module structure of the water pressure to power the coffee machine with fresh water is used for coffee preparation. The coffee machine and the coffee grinder are housed in an enclosure that is screwed with wood screws on the base plate of the module. For this purpose, bores are provided in the interior, but not in the base plate itself, since here is screwed. This enclosure is characterized by a transport device of the coffee machine and coffee grinder. On a plate fitted with rollers on both devices can hold in two discrete positions. The rollers hold in respective wells, for stowing the device in the enclosure and coffee making facilities. A simple door to mount protects equipment during transport, moreover, they can be in the upper part of the enclosure into place and disappears like that. Laterally folding tables can be unhook and keep a rod in use position. The rods can be snapped over the front mounting clips for transporting the module. Sun and rain roofs protect customers and their maximum length is limited by the length of the reared material. Garbage containers can be stored temporarily in a holder inside of a drawer and are available at the coffee preparation. They can be plugged in addition to customer usage in the side tables. Another drawer provides storage space you need for checkout, coffee cups, sugar, milk, etc. A decorative coffee cup at the front of the bicycle coffee and small coffee cup icons in the brake discs the coffee theme rounded off stylishly.
