PROJECT TIMELINE
This post is a part of term project for my FEM course. This projects uses student version of ABAQUS as a preprocessor as well as for verification purposes. A FE code is developed using C# language. The FE code parses Abaqus job file to load Mesh, Loads, and Boundary Condition and replicates the process performed in “*Static” step. The results are verified against the results provided by Abaqus. Various .NET libraries used to solve or visualize the code and model. The code is further used to investigate the reliability and safety of High Contact Ratio (HCR) spur gears against Normal Contact Ratio (NCR) ones using Mises criterion at multiple points of gear loading cycle.
Results of the FE code showed more than 99% with the ones from Abaqus. Additionally, HCR gears showed less deflection and higher FOS throughout life cycle of gear tooth action. Full report available here:
