ABOUT
PROJECT TIMELINE
Fused Deposition Modeling is a common, relatively inexpensive form of additive manufacturing. The simulation software available today are mostly dedicated to metal 3D printing for commercially used parts, whereas FDM is overlooked because of the cheap plastic parts it produces. 3D Experience can be used to work through the design process and improve structural optimization through generative design. However, when a part is 3D printed, its orientation on the build tray can significantly affect its structural properties, bringing us to the question: If we know the loads a body will take, what is the strongest orientation for that part to be printed?
