Description

Faculty of Engineering Technology (FTK) was established on 11 April 2011, in consistent with the objectives of the establishment of Technical Universities under the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN) which aims to educate and train highly skilled manpower to contribute to the advanced industrial countries (world class industrial nation), and a catalyst for national strategies in achieving national higher income.

UTeM moves forward to become the first Technical University and IPTA which offers 10 Engineering Technology Programs in September 2011. This is to offset the vacancies of professional team called the Engineering Technologists which are required by the industry.

According to National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), “Engineering technology programs are oriented toward application, and provide their students introductory mathematics and science courses, and only a qualitative introduction to engineering fundamentals. Thus, engineering programs provide their graduates a breadth and depth of knowledge that allows them to function as designers. Engineering technology programs prepare their graduates to apply others' designs”.

Description

The Georgia Tech School of Aerospace Engineering and Dassault Systemes have a long history, dating back 12 years, of collaborating in supporting innovation at Georgia Tech and across the nation. The IPLE Laboratory was set up to provide education and research using Dassault Systemes set of PLM tools. They have been used by our graduate and undergraduate student teams over the years to win national student design competitions and provided them an understanding of the evolving global engineering environment. Over the past seven years this collaboration has been extended to outreach programs using an innovative development process that allows students at distributed locations to execute Co-Create, Design, Build and Operate (CDBO) lifecycle functions for electro-mechanical systems, such as ground and aerial robots and wind turbines. This has led to outreach summer camps around the country for Team-based Engineering and Manufacturing (TEAM). With Georgia Tech’s recent adoption of the Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform for 10,000 users (students and educators) this outreach expansion will continue nationwide and worldwide.

Halmstad University is a small University of the west coast of Sweden. The institution, School of Business and Engineering, is that one that educates students to become Engineers. An advantage for small universities is that we can form our educations as we want and this has been a great success for Halmstad University. Listening to the surrounding industry we have formed education suitable for them and together with products from Dassault Systemes it has been a success.
